Families Start Here

For parents, grandparents, and caregivers raising a Deaf Autistic child.

What usually brings you here

Your child is signing, or should be, and you cannot tell how much language they actually have. Hard moments are getting bigger and no one has explained why. The school talks about services, and you are not sure any of them reach your child. Autism Map Maker works the space where Deaf education and autism support are supposed to meet and usually do not.

Read first

Start with the Families Start Here shelf in the free library: the Master Guide, TLDR for the big picture, the Bridge Signing Guide for daily routines, and the Meltdown Decoder for hard moments. Every guide is free to download.

Learn with other families

Come to the free Making Change from 2 Cents class every other Sunday, send a question to Saturday Scenarios Live, or find a sign language tutor in the directory.

Work with us on your child

Family consulting starts with a free call. We look at what you already have and what is actually happening at home and at school, and give you something you can use this week.

What we will not do

We do not ask your child to choose between being Deaf and being Autistic. We do not take a communication tool out of your child's hands without putting a better one in. We do not treat compliance as progress. The goal is a family that needs us less over time, not more.

Start with a free call

Every family starts with a free intake call, so we can confirm the work fits before anything else is scheduled.
